Says the legend that thousands of years ago, there was a monster known as the Sphins. He lived in a Greek city called Thebes. The cruel winged creature charged heavy taxes on the people. The monster would leave the city on one condition, which was that someone answered the following riddle: “What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon and three legs at night?”

Those that could not answer were killed. Only Oedipus was able to solve the riddle. He said it was the man, who goes on all fours as a baby, walks on two feet when he’s grownup and leans on a cane when he is old.

It was the answer that the monster wanted to listen. So he freed the city and Oedipus became the king of Thebes.
